We offer theory lessons for RCM levels 5 through 8, as well as RCM Harmony 9 and Harmony/ Counterpoint 10.
Intermediate theory instruction for levels 5 through 8 are often integrated into piano lessons by extending each lesson an extra 15 minutes or half hour, depending on the level and age of the student. However, separate private theory lessons are also offered. Please consult with your teacher as to how we might help you meet your theory goals.
Levels 9 and 10 harmony are offered as private or semi-private lessons.
The RCM offers three exam sessions per year (August, December and May). Exams require approximately 3-4 months preparation, depending on the student/level. Upcoming RCM exam dates can be found here.
Are you interested in creating music?
We offer mentorship to students who would like to talk about composing or bring in their scores-in-progress. Feel free to set up an exploratory lesson, whether you are interested in improvising, arranging, composing using traditional notation and forms, or delving into new possibilities.
